Utilities – Project and Financial Controls

The SED team manages capital spending for critical infrastructure projects that support the utility’s mission of delivering safe and reliable electric service to their customers. It is always critical these projects come in on time and on budget. The Financial and Project Controls Team augments SED’s team of project managers, engineers, and stakeholders by coordinating all financial aspects of their projects. We coordinate an effective cost management review process to closely monitor actual spending against project budgets, track spend against the original plan and subsequent budget updates, while helping to meet the utility’s operational and financial goals.

4Liberty’s Financial and Project Controls Team delivers project finance oversight for approximately $75M of 2020 SED project expenditures, via direct analyst support across 25 budgets. Our tight collaboration with SED’s key stakeholders promotes good decision-making, coordination of business activities, and continuous evaluation of project performance. We provide robust monthly and ongoing reporting packages that track both financial and operational metrics for the utility’s management. Through 4Liberty’s disciplined delivery and approach to financial management, we helped bring in key project portfolios within 3% of their original planned budgets.
